Welcome to vanderwal.net, the home of Thomas Vander Wal and occasionally others. Many come here to visit "Off the Top", a weblog/journal/essay repository that notes changes to this site and Thomas Vander Wal's random observations on life and technology (and possible rants).

The purpose of this site has been to welcome friends and let them know what I am doing and thinking (found in Off the Top). The site has also lead to many new friends and has been a joy to maintain. The site is continually changing as applications are built to ease the maintenance.

The site will be changing over to Web Standards compliance. What does this mean for you? It will be best to view this site with a standards based browser. As of November 1, 2001 the Weblog/Journal portion of this site is dynamic with interlinking categories that will all you the reader to tie thoughts and resources together. Over time more of the site will be incorporated into the tool I built to manage the content.

A "Selection of original poetry" is now posted with a few pieces from the collection of over 100. There is nothing recent posted there, but it still may be new to you.

The about page has been added, but is needing an overhaul. On its was is a photo section and an essays section (which will contain shared experiences from Thomas' Internet/Intranet/Tech development and information architecture world). The Essay section will be an extension of the content management tool.
